Gurkha – Grand Reserve

Size: Robusto (6 x 50)
Wrapper: Connecticut Shade
Strength: Mild – Medium
Personal Rating: 4/10
Price: around $10.00

I will start off by saying that I am now going to use the 1-10 scale for rating, since you cant use the 1-5 scale without sounding like you really love a cigar or really hate a cigar. So with that being said, WOW, I never really thought I would come across a Gurkha that I just didn’t really care for. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good solid smoke, a bit pricey as far as I am concerned, but still a solid smoke. It just wasn’t for me. I tend to lean towards to medium to full sticks, and this was just a bit to mild and a bit to sweet for my tastes. Gurkha does a great job of infusing this quality made stick with cognac however. Once Billy, Chris and myself lit this stick up, the whole lounge immediately took notice and started talking about it smelling like a cognac factory in there. I cant say much else about this smoke though. It was crafted extremely well, tasted what it was meant to taste like throughout, and had a smooth clean draw. While it was to mild and sweet for me, I do recommend this smoke for newer smokers, especially if they are a fan of flavored sticks. What’s your input guys?? Oh, and enjoy!!

Gurkha Grand Age

Size: Churchill (7.5 x 54)
Wrapper: Cameroon
Strength: Medium
Personal Rating: 5/5
Price: around $9.00-$11.00

Wow, I admit that I am a fairly new smoker but this thing is just amazing. To begin, the construction was amazing, hardly a single vein on this stick and firm through out, no soft spots on this one. A dark Cameroon wrapper that glistened with oils, this thing looked like a Wonka bar from my dreams. Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan and Peruvian filler. The foot had a toasty smell with a hint of coffee and chocolate. From the second the foot flamed, flavor was pouring out of this stick in torrents. Starting with a mildly bitter (but very pleasant) leather/dark chocolate taste, this thing produced a TON of smoke. My lady literally came in the room to make sure things were ok. The smoke was snow white and very creamy. About midway some spice picked up and this thing started taking a turn towards the full side, but never quite made it. The finish was all dark chocolate that left an amazing taste in the palate and literally left a sweet chocolaty taste on the lips for almost half an hour after the smoke was finished. Without a doubt, this stick holds my favorite spot and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Went out the next week and purchased 3 more for the new humidor. Enjoy!

Gurkha – Master’s Select

Size: (6″ x 50) Toro
Wrapper: Natural
Strength: Medium
Personal Rating: 4
Price: $6.00 per stick

Smooth, creamy, and surprising… this is how I would describe this cigar. As always Gurkha has delivered another masterpiece in their cigar lines. There is some spicy to it and it’s pretty strong even though I rated it “Medium”. Newbies beware, this cigar is not for you but man oh man for you seasoned smokers out there I recommend this one.

Gurkha – Turk

Though it’s a milder cigar, considering it’s by Gurkha, this is one amazing cigar that strengthens as you smoke it. It has a very creamy smoke and that great taste you can expect from Gurkha cigars.

The first time I smoked one of these I had just finished a nice steak dinner and was blown away. They complimented each other so much that I try to keep a few in my humidor for special occasions.

This is a cigar I would recommend for anyone to at least try!
