Sometimes I am just in the mood for a good mild cigar. Today was one of those days. Rainy, overcast, and nice and cool, it was just a great day to relax at my local smoke shop and enjoy a great cigar. I had never tried a Romeo Y Julieta before and the wrapper of this stick caught my eye, so I snatched it up. The Reserva Real sports a very pale colored Connecticut Shade wrapper and it is just beautiful in construction. The foot had a pleasant hay and cedar smell. Upon torching the foot, I received a sweet aroma of hay and honey that lasted for the entire smoke. The draw was clean and smooth and produced plenty of creamy, white smoke. The flavors were sweet and rich with a very subtle spicy note. I experienced hints of hay and the spiciness of cedar, with a sweet honey taste that coated the palate. The retrohale enhanced the spiciness a bit, but not enough to take away from the mildness of the stick. This is a great smoke for beginner to experienced smokers alike and with the name of Romeo Y Julieta, with this price, you really can’t go wrong. Enjoy!

I will start off by saying that I am now going to use the 1-10 scale for rating, since you cant use the 1-5 scale without sounding like you really love a cigar or really hate a cigar. So with that being said, WOW, I never really thought I would come across a Gurkha that I just didn’t really care for. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good solid smoke, a bit pricey as far as I am concerned, but still a solid smoke. It just wasn’t for me. I tend to lean towards to medium to full sticks, and this was just a bit to mild and a bit to sweet for my tastes. Gurkha does a great job of infusing this quality made stick with cognac however. Once Billy, Chris and myself lit this stick up, the whole lounge immediately took notice and started talking about it smelling like a cognac factory in there. I cant say much else about this smoke though. It was crafted extremely well, tasted what it was meant to taste like throughout, and had a smooth clean draw. While it was to mild and sweet for me, I do recommend this smoke for newer smokers, especially if they are a fan of flavored sticks. What’s your input guys?? Oh, and enjoy!!

Ok, before we start, don’t think of me as THAT guy. The guy that rates ever cigar he smokes as a 5 on a 1-5 scale. I know my last review was a 5, but this one happened by accident. I stopped into my local relaxation hub to pick up a few cheapies for my daily smoke selection. There on the shelf sat a simple box, filled with silver Tubo enclosures. The name down the side…..Dark Knight. OK, OK, I am a nerd, and I happen to love Batman and even though this cigar had nothing to do with Batman, nor was it named after it, I had to try this smoke. MAN, was I floored. The foot had a nice cedar-esque smell with earthy undertones. As I toasted the foot, I got a blast of earthy aroma. The smoke was VERY full and about 2-3 minutes in I started getting a bit light headed but it only lasted a few seconds. The entire cigar remained consistent with flavor the whole time, with a taste of cedar and earth, with some okay undertones, almost like sucking on the cork from a wine bottle but without the sweetness. My only qualm with this stick was it was packed rather tight and I had trouble keeping it lit. You couldn’t put it down for more than 30 seconds or so without having to relight. With that said this cigar was still great on relight, no harshness or bitterness from firing it back up. So yes, seal of approval from me, if you like full stogies, go pick up this stick and try one. Enjoy!
