Jose Marti Robusto

Size: Rothschilds ( 4.50 x 52 mm)
Wrapper: Ecuador Sumatran
Strength: Medium
Personal Rating: 4/5
Price: around $1.72

For a cheap cigar, the Jose Marti Robusto wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. On initial glance, the wrapper looked poorly constructed as there were bumps and flakes. But, when I began to smoke the Jose Marti Robusto, I fell in love. The Jose Marti Robusto had a chocolate taste with a hint of bitterness. Towards the middle of the smoke, it changed to a cedar flavor, which disappointed me a bit. All in all, I would definatly buy this smoke again as it is a good cigar with a cheap price.

Ashton Cabinet Series Belicoso

Size: Torpedo ( 133 x 20.64 mm)
Ring: 52
Wrapper: Nicaraguan
Strength: Medium
Personal Rating: 4/5
Price: around $8.60

I was actually impressed with this fair priced cigar. The torpedo design of the Ashton Cabinet Series Belicoso is something I enjoy very much as well as prefer that over other shapes. The smoke time took a bit longer than I expected which was a plus. The Ashton Cabinet Series Belicoso has a Dominican filler that’s aged 4 to 5 years to bring an even rich and complex flavor. The Connecticut shade wrapper, which is actually aged for an extra year, brings a palomino color resulting in a creamy and smooth flavor adding to that of the tobacco. The Ashton Cabinet Series Belicoso can hold it’s own with the higher priced lines very well, and most cigar smokers should try it out.

a cigar discovery!

So I’m low on cash and decided to give some cheap cigars a friend of mine recommend a chance. As far as cheap stogies go they are ok… I guess. Well my lady made me a cup of joe and I decided to light up some of these cheap little things and maybe try to enjoy myself. Well I have discovered that apparently coffee makes a cheap cigar so good. Don’t get me wrong, nothing will ever replace my Gurkha master’s select robusto but I am enjoying this, so much so that I’ve decided to come and tell you guys about it.

What are your opinions on this and other cheap cigars ?
